AGE DEFY – Bakuchiol, Bisabolol, C, E, CoQ10

Meet AGE DEFY, one of our signature products, that uses a combination approach to ingredient selection for best results.

Squalane and jojoba oils form part of the base of this formulation, being highly compatible with the natural oils produced by the skin.  These are combined with lighter oils to help product penetration and to leave your skin with a silky feel.

We have used a signature blend of 4 organic essential oils in this formulation (Sandalwood, lavender, ylang ylang, and cedarwood), for skin benefits and to leave you feeling relaxed, but invigorated.

AGE DEFY has been fortified with Bakuchiol, a “natural retinol alternative” (more on this below).  Also incorporated, are our favourite powerful anti-ageing ingredients that work synergistically to help skin regeneration, evening skin tone, and reducing pigmentation and the appearance of fine lines:  Vitamin C, Natural Vitamin E and Co-Enzyme Q10.  Bisabolol, extracted from chamomile, is an active used to assist in reducing the irritation potential of some ingredients, is a powerful antioxidant, may assist in the penetration of actives to the skin and has anti-ageing benefits.

So what is Bakuchiol?  Bakuchiol is a natural ingredient isolated from the Psoralea corylifolia (babchi) plant that grows in India and some Himalayan regions.  Touted as a ‘natural retinol alternative’, Bakuchiol is structurally different to retinol, but is a functional analogue, so works in the same way… but is better tolerated by the skin.

How does Bakuchiol stack up to retinol for anti-ageing?  A 2014 study showed that Bakuchiol functioned as an anti-ageing compound through the same mechanisms as retinol. https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/24471735/

In 2019, a clinical study was published in the British Journal of Dermatology that looked at comparing Bakuchiol to retinol, to assess their efficacy for photo-ageing over 12 weeks.  The results of that study showed that “Bakuchiol and retinol both significantly decreased wrinkle surface area and hyper-pigmentation, with no statistical difference between the compounds.”  In addition, Bakuchiol was better tolerated than retinol. These results for Bakuchiol are promising.  A natural compound that works in much the same way, has shown the same anti-ageing results, can be used twice-daily, but is better tolerated than retinol.  And now we’ve combined it with other powerful anti-ageing actives in AGE DEFY.

How to use

Massage this light facial oil into cleansed skin after any water-based serums.  Face Cream Rich is a perfect addition applied to skin after AGE DEFY.  May be used twice daily.  Wear broad spectrum SPF daily.
